We Honor Veterans

PROUD TO SERVE THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED US…

America’s veterans have done everything asked of them in their mission to serve our country. Arbor Hospice believes it is never too late to give them a hero’s welcome home.

Today, one in four dying Americans is a veteran. These men and women often carry experiences from their military service that present unique challenges at the end of life.

We Honor Veterans is a program designed to address these needs. While we can never truly repay the debt we owe our heroes, Arbor Hospice strives to deliver the kind of wholistic loving care they have earned.

OUR COMMITMENT

Arbor Hospice believes in honoring the men and women who served our country, so we have joined with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to care for our veterans at the end of life.

We Honor Veterans is a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs. This program recognizes the unique needs of America’s Veterans and their families and provides educational tools and resources to guide Veterans through their life stories toward a more peaceful ending.

SERVING THE UNIQUE NEEDS OF VETERANS

Arbor Hospice’s participation in We Honor Veterans demonstrates our commitment to:

  • Streamline the referral/admission process for veteran patients
  • Educate Arbor Hospice staff and communities about the end-of-life needs of our veterans
  • Coordinate care with Veterans Affairs and other healthcare organizations
  • Provide veteran-to-veteran volunteer programs
  • Connect veterans and their families with community resources
  • Offer the services of staff and volunteers who are trained to meet the unique challenges faced by veterans and their families

Arbor Hospice reaches out to a variety of local veteran service organizations (VSOs) to develop partnerships as part of an overall strategy to enrich our support of veterans in the communities we serve.

Arbor Hospice is proud to partner with local chapters of VSOs including:

  • AmVets
  • Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)
  • American Legion

COVERAGE FOR HOSPICE CARE

In most instances, Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance providers cover the costs of hospice care. Veterans who are not covered under one of these agencies are covered under the Veterans Administration’s benefit program.
